Dogs, water, freshly cooked crepes and a classic VW Campervan – this might just be one of our favourite combinations yet!
Buttercup Bus headed to Streatham Common Paddling Pool in South London for the wonderfully bonkers Doggy Splash Day, bringing our classic VW Camper crepe van along to feed the humans while their four-legged friends took over the pool.
The event was fully booked and the atmosphere was brilliant, with dogs of every shape and size arriving for a splash.
There were some very happy dogs, some very wet owners and an enormous number of wagging – and soggy – tails!
Fresh Crepes from a Classic VW Camper
While the dogs were busy in the water, our team fired up the crepe stones inside our classic VW Camper and got cooking.
Our VW Camper crepe van is a fully functioning mobile catering unit, allowing us to prepare and cook crepes fresh at events.
Sweet or savoury, each crepe is cooked to order on our traditional crepe stones and served straight from the side of the camper.
The smell of freshly cooked crepes drifting across Streatham Common soon had plenty of hungry dog owners heading in our direction!
A Food Truck with a Difference
We might be slightly biased, but we think a classic VW Camper makes a rather fabulous food truck.
Rather than simply arriving as somewhere to buy food, the camper becomes part of the event itself. Its vintage styling creates a natural focal point and, wherever we take it, people seem to want to stop, chat and take photographs.
Inside, however, it’s all about the food.
Our campers have been professionally converted into mobile catering vehicles, allowing our team to provide fast, fresh event catering while retaining all that classic VW character on the outside.
Doggy Splash Day at Streatham Common Paddling Pool
Streatham Common Paddling Pool is a much-loved community-run outdoor pool in South London.
Once the regular summer swimming season comes to an end, Doggy Splash Day gives four-legged visitors the opportunity to enjoy the water instead.
Dogs can paddle, swim, chase balls, make new friends and generally have a thoroughly good time getting absolutely soaked.
The event also has a much bigger purpose. The paddling pool relies on community support, donations and fundraising, and proceeds from the Doggy Splash events help towards keeping the pool operating for future seasons. You can make your donation here!
We absolutely love being part of community events like this – particularly when they’re practically on our doorstep in South London.

Thank you to everyone who stopped at our camper for a crepe and to the team and volunteers behind Streatham Common Paddling Pool for creating such a brilliantly different community event.
There were confident swimmers, cautious paddlers, tennis-ball obsessives and quite a few dogs who appeared to believe that shaking themselves dry immediately next to their owners was an essential part of the experience.
We loved it.
