Everyone likes to be pampered from time to time – and Belinda Bus is no different. The old girl works hard in the summer, bringing VW Camper smiles to wedding, holiday and camper photobooth hirers wherever she goes. She had certainly earned her winter restoration… but where could we find a beauty spa that would allow her to relax, and come back ready to “Wow” her hirers?

I have been following Volks Weld for some time on Facebook, and have been really impressed by the photos they regularly post on all their retro VW restorations… If anyone knows how to “pamper a camper”, then these guys do! I had already made up my mind that the 275 mile trip from Croydon to Redruth in Cornwall was going to be totally worth it.

Belinda Bus – winter restoration at Volks Weld

Jem and Jay at Volks Weld know their stuff – and you can see the passion, love and care that goes into their work, and their genuine obsession for all things VW. Not only do they do an amazing job – but they keep you well informed on their progress with regular pictures on the Facebook Page, along with phone calls where any key decisions needed to be made regarding budget, approach to the restoration, time scales etc.

Talking of timescales, these guys totally smashed it. We talked about a completion date, and despite uncovering a few “unknowns” behind Belinda’s paintwork, the hard graft meant that they met the deadline we had in place.

A nice touch was the surprise extras that they included. Belinda had a dent in her roof, which was hidden under her roof rack. Somehow they found the time to sort it out – much appreciated indeed!!

Seeing Belinda after her stay at Volks Weld, I was chuffed to bits – there she was, shiny and smart (they even included an air freshener – nice touch!) Looking in detail and having seen the photos, I could see the detailed attention that had gone into the job. I could tell that they cared about the quality of the job and appreciated how dear Belinda was to me.

This blog has some of the photos from the job – Belinda was the second camper to join our fleet – and under her shiny paint it is hard to tell the quality of work that has been undertaken previously. We now have a documented log of the work we have had done, and know that she is a solid camper.

She was a joy to drive down there and back – and I rather enjoyed myself behind the wheel, with a few stops offs along the way for lunch, and to catch up with friends.

If you are looking for somewhere to take your much loved camper for any restoration work, mechanics or a paint job, I cannot recommend Volks Weld highly enough – nice guys, trust worthy and you know that they will do the job properly!
