Buttercup Bus VW Campers are no strangers to weddings, having rocked up to many a ceremony with the bride, groom or party of bridesmaids… but to date, we have only ever arrived in daylight…
Today, it was announced that couples will be able to marry outside of the traditional hours from 8am to 6pm from October 2012, as changes are being brought in under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012…. so you could arrive in the moonlight, as you get ready for a midnight ceremony… how romantic!
With people forever trying to conjure up individual weddings, this will open the doors for more creativity, with evening ceremonies… perhaps you want to get married on the same date and time that you first met your partner, or see in the New Year with an extra special wedding party. Summer sunsets on the beach sound rather appealing, and now it will be possible to get private hire of venues that were previously only open to the public during the day.
It will still be neccesary to provide two weeks notice before getting married – so spontaneous ceremonies will not be possible… Also, for those of you getting married in Scotland, this is old news, as currently there are no restrictions on ceremony times.
It will be interesting to see how wedding suppliers adapt to these changes – with the potential for services to be supplied around the clock, from hair stylists to photographers, catering and entertainment.
So we had better get those campervan headlights polished, ready to illuminate the path up to the wedding venue as evening ceremony requests start to come through – we can’t wait!
