Buttercup Bus VW Camper Hire in London prides itself in being family friendly, and ideal for younger children. This is because the business is run by a young family, with a two year old (and another one on the way!).The business owner, Nathalie, is a volunteer at the local NCT, and the company is recommended by the child friendly breaks website, Away with the Kids!

The campervans are regularly taken out on family trips, where we test all the equipment from bedding to the lamps, and make sure that everything is supplied to ensure an enjoyable trip.

Lots of flexible sleeping arrangements to accommodate children of all ages

Specifically, for children, we are able to supply:

  • A special, attachable hammock which attaches over the front seats. This provides a “roll-free” bed, which safely accommodates young children up to 35kg in weight at eye level, under the watchful eye of Mum and Dad.

  • Two pull out bunks beds for children ideally up to the age of 6-8 years of age, which fit in the pop top of the campervan
  • A seat that pulls out to make a double bed for Mum and Dad.
  • If you are travelling with a very young baby, we have tested the campervan with a Samsonite pop up bubble travel cot set up at the foot of the integrated double bed, and this proves to be a perfect fit for the little one – we can even provide you with our own if required. (Our baby loved it in her early years!)

Oh, and if your little ones like a lullaby before going to sleep, you can always use the CD player, or get really high tech and link it to your MP3 player through the connection lead provided and play their favourite nursery rhymes!

The detachable awning provides flexibility with sleeping and storage options

For those looking for flexible sleeping options, we can include the detachable awning, which has an inner sleeping compartment and comes with a double air bed and foot pump to sleep up to two more adults.

The beauty of the detachable awning is that during the day when you want to pop out in the campervan, you can leave the tent standing, and simply clip it back onto the campervan on your return.

The awning is an ideal option for families as it provides storage space for the pushchairs and childrens’ bikes!

The campervan comes fully equipped, so you just have to pack sleeping bags, toiletries and clothes! Oh – and you if you are driving down to collect your campervan, you can leave you car securely parked with us for free. Alternatively, we are always happy to collect you from the train station!

The British summer has been rather kind over recent years (especially during the earlier months of April and May, where we experienced a mini heatwave). Children love nothing more than the freedom a campsite provides for them to run around. We are able to provide a child’s deck chair (to accompany the adults’ deck chairs that come as standard). We even have a children’s protective sun tent if required!

We can even provide a sun tent!

The campervan comes fully equipped with all the kitchenware you could need for a family holiday, including plastic plates, cups and even wine glasses ready for the adults to relax in the evening!

The integrated gas hob and grill enables you to boil the kettle for a nice cup of tea, or cook up a traditional breakfast (using the pans and spatulas provided) in the morning. For those of you that love to eat outdoors, we even include a portable BBQ! Just lay out the supplied picnic rug and unfold the deck chairs, and you are good to go!

Meal times in the campervan as a family work well too, with the campervan’s social seating arrangement, with a stow away table which fits neatly between the seats, so that you can all chat over dinner about your day’s adventures!

 Safety First!

Our campervans are maintained by our Vintage VW Camper specialist mechanic on a regular basis, and we have just purchased and fitted new engines (1.6L aircooled) which are still under warrantee. However, we like you to have everything in place to account for every eventuality, and so our campers come with full UK AA cover as standard, safety pack including first aid kit, fire extinguisher and battery power jump pack.

The campervans come with seatbelts (lap belts in the back, and standard, over the shoulder, tension belts in front). The lap belts will fit a childs’ forward facing car seat. For those with rear facing baby car seats, we would suggest they place the seat in the front on the passenger chair with the tension belt. (And as you are high up in a camper, you get to enjoy all the views out of the big, bay window!) Our campers will seat 5-6 people with seatbelts.

We are able to make personal recommendations for places to go as a family

Many families that book our campervans look for recommendations on good places to go with the campervan. We are always happy to make personal recommendations! Some of our favourite suggestions include:

Camping at “Sandy Balls holiday centre”, which is near the New Forest, and not too far from Paulton’s amusement park and not forgetting Peppa Pig world (a favourite with our own daughter… and Mum rather enjoyed herself there too!). This venue is ideal for young families, as there are plenty of facilities on site, to include both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, restaurants, indoor play barn and a host of activities ranging from children’s art classes to organised nature trails. You can even hire childrens bicycles including the carriages that Mum and Dad can tow.

For those families looking for a rustic weekend, travelling within an hour of the M25, we would suggest our own favourite – Wo Wo campsite, set in the Sussex countryside near Uckfield. This campsite allows campfires, family groups, children and dogs too! There are a whole host of courses that you can book onto, including bushcraft and foraging . If you are lucky, they also occasionally cook up a delicious pot of homemade soup on an open fire, which they serve up in a communal area for everyone to share – a great opportunity to meet other families – just bring one of your bowls from the campervan!

You can even arrange a viewing before you decide to book your campervan!

We understand that it might be hard to picture the seating and sleeping arrangements within the campervan, and always welcome families to pop round our base in Croydon to get introduced to the campervans in advance. So why not contact Nathalie at Buttercup Bus VW Campers, and arrange a viewing over a cup of tea! She will be happy to answer any questions that you might have, and will fully understand the special requirements a family might have when planning a camping trip.
